Movin’ On Up
Under the category of “well, that took longer than expected”, I’ve finally launched my new web site at ted.dev. (Go on, take a look, I’ll wait.) This means a few things:
This is the last newsletter sent via Substack, as I’m moving my writing to the new web site.
If you’re getting this email through Substack, don’t worry, I’ll be migrating you to a new mail list. (Of course, you can always unsubscribe, but I hope you’ll stick around!)
Once I finish migrating the articles from Substack to my new site (3 down, several more to go), I’ll shut down Substack completely.
Articles from my older web site(s) will also be migrated, but those might take a bit longer, as I want to properly redirect them to their new home.
You can read more about the new web site on the new web site right here (is that meta enough?).
Predictive Test-Driven Development
After waaaay too long, part 3 of my series on Predictive Test-Driven Development (PTDD) is now available on, yep, my new web site! Read it here.
I have one (maybe two) more parts to write in that series (part 4 is already drafted, so look out for it next week). Then I have a series on Hexagonal Architecture planned, which I’m really excited about as it’s something I’ve been focusing on (and teaching in my classes). I’ve got related news on that topic, but you’ll have to stay tuned to find out what’s up.
PTDD, Hexagonal Architecture, and a Book Club
Are you looking for a place to discuss TDD, Refactoring, Hexagonal Architecture, Object-Oriented Design in Java, Spring Boot, and more? Well, I created my Discord community for just that purpose. It’s free to join by clicking on this invite link: https://discord.gg/9XDfBSZ.
In addition to chat discussions, I also facilitate a book club (also free), where we read technical books and discuss them (chapter by chapter) during a weekly 2-hour Zoom session on Sundays. We just started a new book: Unit Testing: Principles, Practices, and Patterns by Vladimir Khorikov. It’s not too late to join in. If you’re interested, join my Discord and send me a direct message letting me know that you’re interested, and I’ll give you the details.
That’s all for this time, see you next time via the new email list!
